  • An informational workshop for students in the sciences to learn how to network with alumni, conduct informational interviews, and explore career opportunities through the Nova Network.

1. Career Fair 201: How to Follow Up After the Career Fair-1

  • Attend an informational workshop on how to follow up with employers you met at the Career Fair (Feb. 5th and 6th).  Learn how to draft a professional email to express your interest in a company and potential internship opportunities.

2. BRIDGE Society: Psychology, Sociology & Education Mentoring & Networking Event
Thursday, February 7, 2013, 6:00pm-8:00pm, Dougherty Hall West Lounge

  • This is an opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced industry professionals. Students will be grouped with a professional mentor to discuss the industry and their individual career journey, followed by an open networking event for all attendees.

3. The Scientist’s Guide to REU Programs
Friday, February 8, 2013, 1:30pm-3:00pm, Mendel 103

  • An informational workshop for students to explore the highly competitive NSF: Research Experiences for Undergraduates sites across the country. Learn what the program entails, where to find a listing of all sites, and how to be a competitive REU applicant.

2. Law School Speed Event: Learn Everything You Wanted to Know About Law Admissions & Law School

  • Learn everything you wanted to know about law school and the following law admissions topics: personal statements, legal resume, optional essays, list of schools, legal internships, employment, networking with law school representatives, networking with attorneys, informational interviews with attorneys, LSAT, professionalism, recommendations, and clinical programs.

3. Career Fair 101: Preparing an Elevator Speech

  • Attend an informational workshop on how to present yourself to potential employers at the upcoming career fair, held on February 5th and 6th in the Connelly Center.  Learn about elevator speeches, professional introductions, and inquiring about internship opportunities.

  • This workshop covers the necessary steps to build a strong foundation for professional development and future success. Career searches, informational interviews, leadership opportunities, networking, recommendations, and cover letters will be discussed.
