Below is a guest post by Elizabeth Hecht ’14, Economics Major, Communication (Public Relations) Minor and Intern in the Office for Undergraduate Students.

VIP Mentors is a new student network that aims to connect students within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have successfully completed internship experiences with students who have a sincere interest in participating in engaging internship experiences. For more information, email:

On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:30 to 6:30pm in the Garey Hall Cafe, VIP Mentors is hosting a panel of students who are going to share their internship experiences.  This panel is going to be a very valuable and interesting event.  The student panelists have had a wide variety of internships in the areas of Law, Politics and Government. The panelists will explain the process they went through to get these awesome internships. They will also discuss the cool and interesting things they did while interning.

Personally, I am interested to hear about how Jessica Dittmer secured her internship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  And I cannot wait to learn about the process Brendan Fallon went through to become an intern for the United States Secret Service. I am excited to hear all about the experiences these panelists had working for the United States Congress, the United States Department of Health and Human Services and The White House. If you are looking to work in these areas I would definitely recommend attending this event; it will be an interesting and informative way to learn about landing the incredible internships you want.
